Popular Menu Items
Breakfast, lunch or dinner, there are always great deals and plenty of fried chicken favorites at Church’s Chicken. Your biggest decision will be to get regular or spicy. The spicy is pretty hot so give it a try before you buy a whole bucket.
There are some great sides at Church’s as well. Try the cheesy jalapeno poppers or the fried okra if you are looking for something different and unique. The kid’s menu offers plenty for the little ones. Don’t forget the biscuits brushed with Church’s signature honey butter glaze!
Here are a few of the customer favorites from the menu:
2 Piece Leg and Thigh Meal
Who doesn’t love that first tender and juicy bite of a drumstick? This is a great budget friendly deal. You get two pieces of regular or spicy fried chicken and your choice of fries and a drink for $7.99.
10 Piece Boneless Wings
There are three great wing sauces to choose from and all of them are winners: Sweet and Spicy, traditional Buffalo, or Honey BBQ. They are made to order just for you from all white meat lumps of chicken battered, fried, and tossed in your favorite sauce. These are also a great side to share with friends for $6.99.
Big Tex Tender Sandwich
This signature sandwich starts with two thick slices of Texas Toast that has been buttered and grilled. Then all-white tenders in regular or spicy meet with crisp lettuce, creamy mayo and tangy pickles. It’s a sandwich to please a hearty appetite. Have the combo deal for $7.99.
Honey Butter Biscuits
These sweet and savory flaky biscuits are famous and some people just order them on their own. They are glazed with a honey butter that is just divine. Be sure to try them out if you have a chance. A side of four is just $2.99.
Chicken Biscuit Combo
A classic southern favorite sandwich for breakfast is the chicken biscuit. It combines arguably the two best tastes of the south: fried chicken and homemade biscuits. If you have not woken up to this treat before, give it a try next time you are close to a Church’s Chicken. $5.29.
Church’s Chicken History
George W. Church opened the first Church’s Chicken in 1952, in San Antonio, Texas. The first location was right across the street from The Alamo and drew in tourist customers as well as locals. Church died in 1956 with four restaurants in the chain.
Churches merged with Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits in 1989, after a period of rapid expansion. Fun fact: The first female CEO of a fast food restaurant chain was Hala Moddelmog who was appointed president in 1996.
The chain has been through several mergers and acquisitions in the years to follow and is currently owned by Friedman Fleischer & Lowe. There are over 1,700 locations as of 2016 in North America. By 2016 the chain reached over one billion sales globally!
